Magick Card of the Month: Giggle Breath


We all know that laughter is contagious; Giggle Breath is just that: contagious laughter. Like its air element, it inspires us and moves the things around us. Humans are one of the only species that laughs, and those who laugh a lot tend to have incredible problem solving skills, as it triggers the same area of the brain.

Anatomy of the Pose: Come to criss-cross applesauce, or your comfortable seated pose. Inhale to fill the belly. As you exhale, begin to laugh. This is a lot of fun to do with a group, you’ll find that the pose ends up becoming very natural as it’s almost impossible not to go from forced laughing to genuine, doubled-over laughter.

Chakras Most Affected: Laughter is a beautiful emotion and it balances both our second and fourth chakras: sacral and heart. These trigger feelings of joy and abundance.

Benefits for Children: Children are naturally joyful and energetic; they wear their emotions on their sleeve. This pose is incredibly easy for them, not to mention it’s inclusive and builds confidence. It also reminds us to breathe correctly, into the belly.

Magick Card of the Month: Dog Pose


Dog Pose is great for strength, gauging the body, and also an easy inversion for kids. Like the dog or puppy, this pose activates so many areas and is a great way to calm anxiety and create endorphins.

Anatomy of the Pose: From tabletop, take the hands about an inch in front of you. On an inhale, straighten the legs to lift the sits bones. Feet are hip-width apart, fingers are spread with middle fingers facing forward. To make this more fun for the kids, ask them what sound a dog makes. Begin to do little hops propelling your tailbone into the air while barking. This makes the pose even more active and a lot of fun.

Chakras Most Affected: Dog pose balances the root chakra. Hands and feet are planted firmly into the mat connecting us to the earth.

Benefits for Children: This pose is very helpful for gauging the areas that are hold a lot of tension, kids don’t hold a lot of tension but take time at the beginning of this pose to ask them how different areas of the body feel: feet, legs, hands, arms, etc.

Magick Card of the Month: Mountain Pose


Mountain Pose is great for stopping and taking stock of where you are; reminding yourself to come back to the present. The mountain is still but full of life. Appreciate the breath here and rediscover your center.

Anatomy of the Pose: Come to standing, with big toes touching and feet rooted firmly into the ground. Center the pelvic bowl, not letting it tip forward or back. Gaze is forward. Remember to relax the shoulders and soften the face. Bring prayer hands to heart center and breathe here.

Chakras Most Affected: Mountain pose is excellent for the root chakra. It keeps us grounded and helps us to focus our breathing.

Benefits for Children: Stillness is not the easiest for children; they’re little balls of energy pretty much all the time. Mountain allows them to be quiet and still, and it is also wonderful for posture. When you need to help them calm down and breathe, have them come to mountain so they can bring their minds back to a more balanced state.

Keep Your Fitness Resolution All Year Long [Infographic]

It’s almost here! That time of the year when we want to start anew by setting fitness resolutions. It’s as if the beginning of a new year brings hope and possibility that this year will be THE year. So why is it rarely THE year? Most resolutions consist of breaking our worst habits: smoking, drinking, eating too much, etc. So it’s no surprise that we’re going to fall off the wagon from time to time trying to keep ourselves from our most loved vices.‘s new infographic sheds some light on New Year resolution statistics, pertaining to fitness, and even comes equipped with a meal plan and training program. Feel free to substitute some of the foods and exercises to meet your needs.

Let’s try not to be a statistic this year. Instead, let’s take our time and create a new lifestyle and understand that breaking bad habits is a process, and creating good habits can be a marathon, not a sprint.

Magick Card of the Month: Tickle Toes

Tickle Toes is a very energizing pose that allows you to let loose and be silly. Its element is fire which promotes movement and action.

Anatomy of the Pose: Begin in mountain pose. Bring the arms up over head, reaching the fingers towards the ceiling. Inhale to lengthen, exhale to bend at the waist bringing the fingers to the toes. Have the kids tickle their toes while saying “tickle, tickle, tickle.” Saying the words in a fun, magical voice helps them to more easily remember the pose.

Chakras Most Affected: This pose is similar to forward fold which is a great way to activate the root chakra.

Benefits for Children: This pose is a great way to boost energy and de-stress. You can even adjust the pose to be more relaxing and just having the kids hang in a forward fold, letting all the tension fall out of the upper back, neck and shoulders.

Yoga for the Holidays



Holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and relaxation. Family and friends come together in hopes of catching up on old times and taking a break from the daily grind. On the other hand, the holidays are also very busy, filled with excitement, and hustle and bustle. It’s times like these that we need yoga more than any other; it reminds us to stay mindful, present and humble.

Here are a few easy ways to get through the holidays with ease and splendor, as it was always meant to be.

Meditate and set your intentions

Keep this very simple. Even if it’s only for five minutes when you rise in the morning, or maybe it’s in the middle of the day; take a moment to clear the mind. Notice nothing but the breath and the back of the eyelids. Let everything release. When you’re ready to come out of meditation, save some space to set your intentions. This isn’t your to-do list, but more of a theme for the day, here are a few examples:

I will take my time today and not let others dictate my mood or actions. 

I will show those around me only love, patience and kindness. 


When things get hectic, find your breath; just as you would while practicing the asanas, let it guide you. There are several breathing exercises but one seems to cover a wide range of needs: focus on breathing in and out through the nose. Inhale completely and then hold the breath for at least five seconds, then slowly exhale. Do this as many times you need. This is great for anxiety and to regain focus.


Stretch as much as you can: in the morning, at the table, in the car, out shopping, anywhere and everywhere. We hold a lot of tension during stressful times; this makes us tense up in the shoulders and neck, and even makes us want to eat more. Actively stretch and relax the muscles to relieve tension. You will thank yourself when the new year rolls around.

This is all you need to get you through the holidays, until you can get back to a more stable routine. Everything goes by so fast this time of year, let’s try to be totally present and enjoy every moment of it while it lasts.

Magick Card of the Month: Snake Pose

Snake Pose, similar to cobra, is a whimsical pose that encourages relaxation and day dreaming. Its element is Earth, which helps to keep us grounded.

Anatomy of the Pose: Come to the belly, on your forearms. Let the third eye rest on the floor. Inhale to lift the head and chest, exhale to come back down. For fun: do a snake hiss when the head comes up.

Chakras Most Affected: Snake pose is wonderful for Anahata, the heart chakra. It opens the chest and helps to stretch the lungs and abdomen.

Benefits for Children: Snake is a fun pose for kids. It sparks the imagination and lets them role play. It also allows them to open the chest, which we don’t often get to do naturally.

Open House at Local Yoga Studio to Introduce Mini Me Yoga Program

On November 8, 2015 Eternal Health Yoga will open its doors to our international kids yoga program. The new addition is ideal for families, teachers and caregivers, as it educates them on how to introduce yoga to children.

Mini Me Yoga is offered in several different countries, however, Eternal Health Yoga will be the first studio in Louisville to add the program to its regular schedule, offering: 2-hr Mindfulness & Yoga Workshops for parents and teachers, as well as yoga classes for kids. Owner of Mini Me Yoga U.S., Bridget Dewson, has decided to make the program neighborhood exclusive in Louisville, meaning only one studio per neighborhood can offer the workshops and classes on a consistent basis. Eternal Heath Yoga will act as the exclusive studio for the Crescent Hill neighborhood.

“We are so excited to be the first yoga studio in Louisville to offer regular Mini Me Yoga classes,” says Shelli Carpenter, Owner of Eternal Health Yoga. “This Program brings the joyful aspects of yoga to children by encouraging positive thinking and awareness through fun classes designed specifically for them.
